America The Free
12/16/03

When I see our flag flowing and blowing in the wind,
It makes the hair on my neck stand up on end.
I'm proud to be an american, in the land of the free,
Nothing in this world means as much to me.
When terrorist try to hurt us and tear our country down,
All they are doing is making us more sound.
These people like to murder, this is what they do,
But all they are doing is biting more than they can chew.
America is forever and forever it will be,
The land of milk and honey and the home of the free.

My Favorite Sound
01/12/04

All through your life many sounds you'll hear,
Like dogs barking and children's cheer.
The sound I love most, comes from the sky,
It's the falling of rain as it touches my eyes.
When the rain hits a roof that's made of tin,
No better sound has there ever been.
It lulls you to sleep as you lie in bed,
And makes pleasant dreams flow through your head.
The rain is not only a beautiful sound,
It cleans the air and waters the ground.
When the day comes and I breath no more,
I want it to rain, I want it to pour.

Some Things Children Shouldn't Do
01/25/04

In the small town, where I am from,
I had a good friend, he was my chum.
The things we did way back then,
Would scare the hair right off your chin.
We would place cans upon our heads,
And with our rifles shoot them dead.
We'd go to Elsie's and climb her trees,
And make mudballs to throw at the bees.
When the balls did strike the hives,
The bees would sting and swell shut our eyes.
I remember one time, as he put his pants on,
He started jumping and singing a song.
It seemed there was a wasp in his pants,
And that's what was making him sing and dance.
To my friend Ron, I dedicate this poem,
For all the friendship that he has shown.

My Favorite County Fair
02/07/04

When I was just 16, so many years ago,
I went to our county fair, to see all it's shows.
I seen the snakes and alligators, and a monkey with 3 tails,
I tried to knock the bottles down, but I would always fail.
Then I seen something that I just had to do,
But it took alot of courage, and some stupidity too.
It seems they had a bear there, that liked to wrestle men,
So I signed to fight him, and maybe even win.
My girlfriend was quite impressed with my coming bout,
But then my mother happened by, and she began shout.
It seems she didn't want to lose her youngest son quite yet,
But I just ignored her, but soon I had regrets.
The bear that I wrestled, he was kind of mean,
And it didn't take him very long to tear off half my jeans.
My head it was bleeding, my eyes they had some tears,
I was so embarrassed, I tried to hide my fears.
If I had it to do over again, do you know what I would do?
I'd jump right back in that ring, how about you?

My Career As A Dentist
03/09/04

Many years ago, when I was seven or eight,
My brother John had a terrible toothache.
It hurt him so bad, I thought he would die,
He held back his feelings, he didn't cry.
I thought for a while what could I do,
To ease his pain and suffering too.
Then suddenly a light came on in my head,
The idea I had, John would surely dread.
I took him outside and told him to stand,
And soon I was there with bow and arrow in hand.
I tied string to the shaft and tooth,
Pulled back on the bow, then I let loose.
I'll remember that day until I die,
As his tooth took off across the sky.
When it was over and the deed was done,
The toothache was gone, now he could have fun.

My Childhood Memories
04/24/04

I remember many years ago when I was but a lad,
The house that we lived, it makes me very sad.
We had no running water, no furnace to keep us warm,
And I was really frightened whenever we had a storm.
For anyone to live this way it is so very wrong,
But my dad's love for alcohol proved way too strong.
My mother did the best she could, she made our house a home,
By loving us and working her fingers to the bone.
Other peoples laundry sometimes she would do,
So she'd have extra money to buy her kids some food.
As time went by things got better, actually very good,
But I still have nightmares of carrying coal and chopping wood.
So I thank my mother for all that she has done,
I just wish I could've been a better, loving son.

Spring Is Here
05/10/04

Spring is here, the snow is gone.
Soon it'll be time to mow your lawn.
Open your windows to clear the stale air,
And dust off the cobwebs that hang over the stairs.
The attic needs cleaned, the garage does too.
My there's so much for us to do.
Like wash the curtains and hang them to dry.
I'll never get done, no matter how I try.
But spring won't last, it's not very long.
I'm going to miss it until a new spring dawns

The Last Journey
06/10/04

The final journey for man to make,
Where will it lead him, what path will he take?
Will the path lead to heaven, or will it lead to hell,
No one on this earth can truly tell.
The sadness and evil we see every day,
God only knows how long it will stay.
Murders, tortures, and famines galore,
All these things happen, and so much more.
Man better hurry before it's too late,
Or he'll never see heaven, and its pearly gates.
This final frontier we hope to explore,
I hope it is heaven, and not hell's door.

Vote For America
08/12/04

The time is near to make our choice,
Our country needs to hear our voice.
The right to vote and choose our way,
Didn't come easy, many lives had to pay.
You need to vote, especially this year,
It might save the lives, of our loved ones so dear.
So get out and vote, exercise your right,
Let's get our country out of this plight.
God Bless America, let her flag fly high,
In the sky of freedom, may she never die.

Dad
10/04/04

My dads been gone, for many years.
I remember him often, in my memory he sears.
My dad to himself, he always put first,
The money he made, went to quench his thirst.
Alcohol was vital, to this man I called dad,
The way he treated us, was so very sad.
We couldn't eat until he was done,
Leftovers we'd have, sometimes there were none.
Do you know what it's like to see your mother cry,
Because there's no food, as the cupboards are dry?
My mother survived, and so did we,
But we still have scars, many you can't see.
